Privacy policy
Who we are
This website, https://whocallsyou.co.uk, is run by WhoCallsYou. We are responsible for the personal data described here. Contact: hello@whocallsyou.co.uk.
What we collect and why
- Searching. When you search a number we do not save the search or link it to you.
- Reports you submit. We store the number, your answer (spam, safe or not sure), the call type, your comment if you write one, and the date. Reports are public. Please do not put your name or anyone's personal details in a comment.
- A scrambled version of your IP address. With each report we store a one-way code made from your IP address (a keyed hash). It lets us stop the same person reporting a number many times a day. We do not store the IP address itself with the report.
- Server logs. Our web server records each request (IP address, page, date and browser) to keep the site secure and working. These logs are deleted automatically after 14 days.
- Bot protection. The report form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are not a robot. Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser details for this check. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Our legal basis is legitimate interests: running a useful public service about unwanted calls and protecting it from spam and abuse.
Cookies
We only use cookies that the site needs to work: a session cookie and a security cookie that protects the report form. They expire after two hours. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies at the moment. If we add them later, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
Who we share data with
- Hetzner Online GmbH hosts our server in the European Union.
- Cloudflare, Inc. provides the bot check on the report form. It may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep data
Reports stay on the site while they are useful, unless they are removed after a request or by moderation. Server logs are deleted after 14 days.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, and you can object to how we use it. Email hello@whocallsyou.co.uk. Because we do not store your IP address with your report, we may need you to tell us which report is yours. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Changes
We will update this page when we change how we handle data. The date at the top shows the latest version.
